Eldon Miller, recruiting for Northern Iowa by telephone while coaching Ohio State to the championship game of the 49th National Invitation Tournament, says that beating Wyoming in tonight’s final “would be a great way to end my career as a Buckeye.”

“Winning your last game of a season is a great feeling,” said Miller, who was fired on Feb. 3, effective at the end of the season, and has already been replaced by Gary Williams. The end of the season has been extended by five games with four NIT victories. He already has been hired by Northern Iowa.

“Changing jobs is really not that big a deal; it happens every day in America,” Miller said Tuesday. “I’ll always love Ohio State. I’m a Buckeye, but going to Northern Iowa is what I want to do, and Ohio State is doing what it wants to do. Some people may feel I’m taking a step backward in my career, but be assured that I do not feel that way.”
