Peru’s Police Foil Rebels

LIMA, Peru — Paramilitary police Wednesday said they foiled a bid by Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) rebels to topple Lima’s main television and radio antennas on a hill overlooking the Peruvian capital. Police said they surprised the rebels hauling 600 sticks of dynamite up the hill. The guerrillas managed to flee.
