AirCal Inc. President David A. Banmiller said Thursday that the Newport Beach-based airline will inaugurate the first nonstop service between Orange County’s John Wayne Airport and Chicago’s O’Hara International Airport, starting July 1 with three roundtrip flights a day.
The Chicago route is a departure for AirCal, which in recent years has concentrated its business in the West Coast corridor, expanding north to Alaska and south to San Diego. Banmiller said AirCal wanted to take advantage of the admission of new airlines at O’Hara. Also, he said that AirCal’s new Boeing 300 jets are well-fitted for longer flights.
