Attorneys for accused Night Stalker Richard Ramirez said it was “irresponsible” of Los Angeles Municipal Judge James F. Nelson to allow reporters to view Ramirez’s court holding cell, where they found a pentagram scrawled on a wall. The attorneys said publicity about the find will injure their client’s chances for a fair trail. Nelson responded that when he allowed reporters into the cell, “Nobody had the slightest idea, as far as I know, what was on the wall.” Witnesses at Ramirez’s preliminary hearing testified that pentagrams were found in the home and on the thigh of one of his purported victims.
