Precautionary Closing of Power Plant Sought

BOSTON —
Gov. Michael S. Dukakis said Thursday that he will ask federal authorities to order the nearly completed Seabrook nuclear power plant shut down this summer, until adequate emergency precautions are in place.
Dukakis and Atty. Gen. Francis X. Bellotti said that the current plan for emergency evacuation procedures cannot ensure the safety of the multitudes who flock to the New Hampshire seashore during the vacation season.
