Ex-Globetrotter Star to Give Talk

Meadowlark Lemon, former star of the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team, will be featured guest speaker at Easter Sunday services celebrating the Resurrection of Christ at Capistrano Valley Church, 32032 Del Obispo Road, San Juan Capistrano.
Lemon will share his experiences involving his religious life at services at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Free nursery care will be offered during all three services. Additional parking will be available on the church grounds.
A musical production of “The Lamb of Glory,” at 6 p.m. in the church auditorium, will end the round of Easter services.
This musical account of the Easter story will feature narrated scenes augmented by the church’s 40-voice choir. Terry Ogle, director of Praise Ministries, will direct and produce the drama. There is no admission charge. For more information, call (714) 661-4991.
The Southern California Son (Zen) Center will hold a meditation retreat from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 5 at 2 Hopkins St., Irvine. The retreat will feature four hours of meditation, chanting, dharma and a vegetarian lunch. An introductory meditation lesson will be available for beginners. Pop and soul entertainer Della Reese will be the special guest at Easter Sunday services at the Huntington Beach Church of Religious Science, 2205 Main St. Reese will sing during services at 8, 9:45 and 11:30 a.m. Peggy Bassett, senior minister of the church, will present a special Easter message, “The Other Side of Easter,” at all three services. “When the Cross is Crowned” is the title of the Rev. Lee Kliewer’s Easter Sunday sermon at the 9 and 11 a.m. services at Geneva Presbyterian Church, 24301 El Toro Road, Laguna Hills. The First Presbyterian Church of Garden Grove has scheduled a number of activities for Easter Sunday. A sunrise service at 7 a.m. will feature the church’s youth group telling the story of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
