Deposed Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos, who has zealously guarded his privacy for a month, will host an Easter Sunday potluck lawn party today for as many as 1,000 supporters, a spokesman said.

Francisco Ugale, president of the United Filipino Council in Honolulu, said the party was planned during a breakfast meeting with the Marcoses on Friday.

“At first they were saying 100 guests,” Ugale said. “But as we talked, we were telling him about people from California and Kauai who wanted to come and talk to him. So then he said, ‘Well, why don’t you fill up the place?’ ”

Ugale said the former president and his wife, Imelda, told him to invite “as many people as you can get.” Ugale said Marcos also “wants the press there.”

All Guests Known

Security will be no problem, according to Marcos supporter Jose Lazo, who said that only invited guests will be allowed onto the grounds and Marcos supporters know all the guests.

Guests are to bring their own food, but Lazo said music and entertainment will be provided and will include songs performed by the former president and his wife.

A priest at the nearby Holy Trinity Church said he will go to the Marcos home today to celebrate a noon Mass on the beach.
