Charles Luckman, Los Angeles architect and former president of Lever Brothers, has been elected chairman of the National Board of Trustees of the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge.

In accepting the chairmanship, Luckman said: “ In the years since Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower and Don Belding formed the foundation in 1949, the foundation’s activities have brought the meaning of responsible citizenship to thousands of Americans.” President Reagan, now honorary chairman, served as a trustee of the organization for 16 years.

Among the new programs of the foundation is the Center for Responsibility, which has developed a “Bill of Responsibilities” for use in classrooms across the nation. From its national headquarters and 105-acre campus at Valley Forge, Freedoms Foundation teaches the rights and responsibilities of citizenship to thousands of students and teachers annually.
