Hermosa Beach : Policemen to Be Honored
Three Hermosa Beach police officers will receive awards for heroism today at a luncheon at the Hyatt Regency in Westchester.
Sgt. Mark Wright and Officers Thomas Eckert and John Kearin will be given the South Bay Police and Fire Medal of Valor, awarded to police officers and firefighters for bravery.
In January, 1985, Eckert and Wright rescued an accident victim who was trapped between two burning cars. Eckert also rescued an elderly woman whose home was threatened by flames from the wreck.
Last June, Kearin and Eckert rescued a Santa Monica police officer who was involved in a car accident while chasing a suspect.
