Santa Fe Springs : Firm to Study Waste Factors

Share

The City Council, acting as the Redevelopment Agency, authorized the planning staff to directly contract with a consulting firm to review studies on properties where hazardous wastes have been handled.

The council also allocated $20,000 to pay for the review and advisory services by Dames & Moore, based in Santa Barbara.

George Beaty, assistant director of planning, said the action giving the planning staff the ability to hire the firm without first going to the Redevelopment Agency would allow staff to move ahead more quickly on development projects. Review agreements previously had to be approved on a case-by-case basis by the agency, he said. He said the contractual agreements would be for small review items.
