An Arco AM-PM Mini Mart in Chula Vista has taken the food off the shelves and will destroy it because of several complaints about food tampering, a company spokesman said Wednesday.

Since Saturday, customers of the store at 800 Palomar Road have complained about finding glass, paper clips and needles in yogurt and hot dogs purchased at the combination gas station-supermarket. Although San Diego County health officials said the discoveries are isolated, they also issued warnings to other convenience stores in the South Bay area to inspect food packages on their shelves for evidence of tampering.
