Venice : Tuum Est Receives Grant

Tuum Est, a financially troubled drug rehabilitation center on Ocean Front Walk, has received a $10,000 challenge grant from the Mattel Corp. A spokeswoman said the nonprofit center is seeking donors to match the grant.
The Tuum Est board of directors is scheduled to decide the center’s fate next week. It is considering transferring local control of the agency to Phoenix House, a national drug treatment chain.
A group called the Ad Hoc Committee to Save Tuum Est applauded the Mattel grant. It is soliciting additional funds to prevent a takeover.
