Code Officers Association Honors Two Building Officials

Two Southland building officials were honored at the 24th Annual Business Meeting of the California Building Officials held in San Jose.

Bob Storchheim, manager, inspection services, for the city of Irvine, was elected president of the organization and Gene Grady, director of building and housing for the city of Chula Vista, was named 1985 Building Official of the Year.

Storchheim has been in his current position with Irvine for the past 10 years. Previously he served with the cities of Los Angeles and Burbank. Grady has served as the president of both the California Building Officials and the International Conference of Building Officials.

Elected officers of the state group were: vice president, Chuck Coen, chief building inspector, Placer County; treasurer, James W. Barthman, manager, inspectional services, Oakland; secretary, Martin Orenyak, community development director, Carlsbad. Elected directors were: Alfred P. Alciati, building official, Morgan Hill; Richard J. Esgate, building official, Santee; Donald L. Schultze, chief, building inspection division, Sacramento county; Milton A. Tromborg, director of building and planning, Dinuba and past president, Anthony J. Nisich, director, building and safety, Beverly Hills

Members of the state group consist of local building and code enforcement officials representing more than 400 government jurisdictions.
