Natal’s Grand Slam Leads UCSD Rout
SAN DIEGO —
Bob Natal’s grand slam highlighted UC San Diego’s eight-run eighth inning Thursday in a 14-3 nonconference baseball victory over Point Loma Nazarene College at UCSD.
Two more eighth-inning runs scored on a double by Brian Rude, who also had a single in the inning. Rude was 3 for 5 with three RBIs, Natal was 2 for 5 with six RBIs and Don Peterson went 4 for 4 for UCSD (12-14-1). Point Loma (11-20-1) was led by Randy Boswell, who went 3 for 5.
Sophomore David Adamson (2-0) got the win in relief for UCSD. Dan Whitney was the losing pitcher.
