Chris Cole, formerly vice president of research and development for Peregrine Systems, has been appointed president of the Irvine-based software company.

Cole, one of the co-founders of Peregrine Systems, replaces Edward Beck as chief executive officer. Beck was with the company three years as president and left to pursue other career interests.
