Vandals spray-painted the words “Manson Lives” on the wall of an office building they set afire in the Malibu area--about an hour after a swastika and the word “Rise” were spray painted on a sailboat that was set afire in a vacant lot nearby. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies estimated damage to the sailboat, which was on a trailer at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Heathercliff Road, at about $500. The second fire, however, destroyed two professional offices and damaged two others. Damage was estimated at more than $200,000. Charles Manson, leader of the infamous murder family, is presently serving a life sentence at the state prison in Vacaville.
