Orange : Nonprofit Groups Asked to Apply for U.S. Funds

Share

Nonprofit organizations operating in Orange are being encouraged to apply for a share of about $65,000 in federal funds still to be allocated in 1986-87.

The federal revenue-sharing funds, which are distributed to all cities on the basis of population, are used for social programs and civic needs, such as road repairs. A citizens committee will evaluate all applications for funding and recommend how to divide the money before the City Council makes a final determination.

The committee will rank the applicants according to financial need and level of service provided to Orange residents. Worthwhile new programs will be ranked highest. Programs requesting funds for the second year will be ranked second, followed by organizations in existence for more than two years.
