Monterey Park : Transit Subsidy Continued

Share

The Monterey Park City Council has approved continuation for another year of transit programs that subsidize bus passes for students, senior citizens and the handicapped and provide dial-a-ride transportation for the handicapped and elderly. The subsidy enables about 125 students, 500 senior citizens and 25 handicapped residents to buy monthly bus pass stamps from the Southern California Rapid Transit District at a $3 discount.

The council has authorized the subsidy of as many as 900 bus passes a month in the next year at a cost to the city of up to $34,200. The dial-a-ride program, which has been in operation since 1978, will continue through the 1986-87 fiscal year at a cost of $81,537.
