Norwalk : Firm to Aid in Relocation

Share

The City Council Monday hired a Redondo Beach firm to help relocate at least a dozen businesses during the next few years to clear the way for various redevelopment projects along Firestone Boulevard.

The council unanimously approved the hiring of Mecky Myers and Associates, to be paid for negotiating relocation of the businesses on a case-by-case basis, said Mike Wagner, the city’s redevelopment director. The contract calls for the firm to be paid $1,000 for relocating each commercial tenant, and $1,400 for each industrial tenant, Wagner said. He added that he does not expect that any residents will have to be moved for redevelopment projects.

Firms will be moved to a new location of their choice and be paid relocation benefits of between $2,500 and $10,000, Wagner said.
