American Airlines, beginning May 23, will offer a discount fare called Special Saver that will give discounts of between 60% and 65% off the full coach fare. Typical fare to New York from Los Angeles will be $159 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, $179 other days.

Qantas Airways and Delta Airlines have joined to offer around-the-world air fares that make it possible to route between the United States, South Pacific, Australia, the Middle East and Europe. Travel must be continuous eastbound or westbound, beginning and ending in the same city. Fares will be $2,399 to $5,399. Check on restrictions.

Starting April 28, travelers will be able to fly from Los Angeles to Bermuda in the same day. Both American and Delta will offer flights to connect with British Airways’ new service to the islands on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
