Smoke-Free Traveling
I must commend Peter Greenberg for his March 30 article regarding no smoking in hotels and restaurants. As all members of our family love to travel but suffer with respiratory and allergy problems, we dislike going into hotel rooms and restaurants to be greeted with the odor of tobacco smoke.
A few years ago my husband and I went with Tauck Tours on a bus tour through New England and Canada to view the beautiful fall foliage. We were delighted to learn there would be no smoking on the bus. However, as soon as we entered the restaurants we ran into all our fellow bus riders who smoked throughout their meals. Our tour guide said there was nothing he could do about it, and all the restaurants had no separate areas to accommodate us. This ruined our trip.
