NASA and its contractors have wasted at least $3.5 billion on the space shuttle and other space programs despite government warnings that bad management was causing heavy losses, according to a published report. The findings were based on more than 500 audits of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, other government documents, economic reports by experts and from interviews with space experts, the New York Times reported. The audits were obtained through the Freedom of Information Act.
