A two-alarm fire injured three men Wednesday morning and destroyed their home in the Caravan Mobile Home Park on Hoover Street.

Although the mobile home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, they were able to bring the blaze under control in about 13 minutes, a Fire Department spokeswoman said.

The three residents who were inside the mobile home were able to make their way to a hospital, a block from the home, before firefighters arrived.

The mobile home’s owner, Jack Vincent Valind, 71, was listed in guarded condition Wednesday in the intensive care unit at Humana Hospital Westminster. He suffered smoke inhalation and had a pre-existing heart condition, Fire Department officials said.

His son, John Phillip Valind, 26, was treated for smoke inhalation and cuts he sustained when he jumped through a window to escape the fire. He was listed in stable condition.

The third victim, Jeffrey Stewart Lewis, 31, was transferred to the burn unit at UCI Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation and second-degree burns on his face and hands. He was listed in stable condition.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, but officials said it is unlikely that the blaze was set deliberately. Investigators estimated damage to the mobile home and contents at $35,000.
