A reserve Marine major died Wednesday of head injuries suffered in a bicycle accident at Camp Pendleton, authorities said.
Maj. David Krause, 35, of San Pablo, Calif., died at Palomar Hospital in Escondido where he had been taken for treatment of head injuries after the accident, a base spokesman said.
Officials said that Krause went for a bicycle ride Tuesday afternoon, struck the rear of another bicycle and lost control of his bike in the collision. He fell to the ground and struck his head on the roadway. The other cyclist was not injured.
