Concerts to Showcase Competition Winners

Alvin Mills will conduct a free concerto concert of the Brentwood-Westwood Symphony showcasing the “Artists of Tomorrow,” winners of the orchestra’s annual competition.

They will perform at 3 p.m. May 18 in the auditorium of Paul Revere High School, Allenford Drive and Sunset Boulevard.

Soloists will be Kristina Cooper and Margot McCoy, cellists; Steven Copes and Laura Frautschi, violinists; Craig Donkin, flutist, and Vicki Esquenazi, Aeri Lee and Anders Martinson, pianists.

Other winners will appear in two benefit recitals in Murphy Hall in the Burns Center for the Fine Arts at Loyola Marymount University, Loyola Boulevard at 80th Street, Westchester, at 4:30 p.m. May 4 and June 1.

Pianists Clara Choung, Reiko Uchida and Susie Pak and violinists Yi Hu and Haldan Martinson will perform May 4.

Performing June 1 will be violist Caroline Lee, pianists Nasrin Nemanpour, Nelson Ojeda and Jane Lee and violinists Ayako Yoshida.

All three programs are presented by the Music Teachers Assn. of California, West Los Angeles Branch.
