Noah, Arias Post Victories at Monte Carlo
Fourth-seeded Yannick Noah of France defeated Pablo Arraya of Peru, 6-4, 6-4, and eighth-seeded Jimmy Arias ousted Marian Vajda of Czechoslovakia, 6-2, 6-2, Thursday in the second round of the $405,000 Monte Carlo Open tennis tournament.
Steady rain drenched the clay courts for the second consecutive day, and only four matches were played, all on Court Two, which has a removable canvas roof.
Ronald Agenor of Haiti beat 10th-seeded David Pate, 6-0, 6-4, and Horacio de la Pena of Argentina defeated 13th-seeded Mikael Pernfors of Sweden, 6-1, 6-4, to complete the second round.
