The State : Youth Dope Ring Alleged

A former Little League baseball coach in San Leandro has been charged with running a marijuana ring that used former players to distribute the drug. Anthony Vergez, 40, was freed on bail after being arrested on charges of marijuana possession and employing minors for illegal purposes. Alameda County sheriff’s deputies raided his home and seized $3,360 worth of marijuana and $1,300 in cash. A sheriff’s spokesman said Vergez was not a “major” dealer but “was doing a lot of dealing to juveniles and young adults.”
