The Colorful Call of the Wild
Spring means lots of wildflowers--and lots of flower seekers--in the Santa Monica Mountains. Topanga and Malibu Creek state parks are spots where hikers can find a variety of blossoms, including desert poppy, royal lupine and Indian paintbrush. The Theodore Payne Foundation offers information on when and where the flowers bloom through May 31. The number is (818) 768-3533.
