U.S. Policy in Nicaragua

I was encouraged by the letter (April 8) from Roger Lindsey concerning the spread of communism in Central America. It’s refreshing to find a letter from a clear-thinking, unafraid American in The Times. I’m proud of men like Roger who won’t wait until the disease of Marxism spreads to the Rio Grande before they advocate action.

We must not only stem this Red Tide, we must take the initiative and push it back to its own evil shores. However, talk is cheap. Freedom is not.

Aid to the contras now is a small price to pay to avoid the suffering of a life where freedom is merely a story we tell our children. The hour of darkness is indeed coming. Will we live in the shadows like frightened mice or shine bright with the torch of victory and liberty that symbolizes our heritage? Wake up America, before it’s too late.
