Whittier : Curriculum Chief Sought

Share

Three years after eliminating the position to save money, the East Whittier City School District apparently will again have an assistant superintendent of curriculum. On the recommendation of district Supt. Gary Mills, the Board of Trustees has agreed to revive the position.

In 1983, the board trimmed the curriculum slot as a cost-saving measure, but Mills said the curriculum needs of the 6,200-student district have grown so complex and varied that a specialist is needed to oversee the development and purchase of teaching materials and books.

No salary range has been set for the job, but the board gave Mills the go-ahead to begin advertising the position.
