Laura Michele Small, the 5-year-old El Toro girl who was mauled by a mountain lion at Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park in Orange County on March 23, her head swathed in bandages, has been released from Mission Community Hospital. However, she still must return as an outpatient for physical therapy, her mother, Susan, said. Laura suffered puncture wounds in her skull and brain, severe damage to her right eye and partial paralysis. The cat was chased away by another park visitor and was shot to death by professional trackers.
