Education and Size of Classes

Have you ever stopped to consider what the single most important component in the educational process is? To me it is the child and the teacher. There is no educational process without this component. And the closer you get to a 1:1 relationship the better the education. There is nothing that can refute that.

I also contend that you can take away books, buildings, paper, crayons, pencils, administrators, school boards, school buses and you could still have education.

I remember two years ago when my classroom burned down. Even though I lost most of my teaching materials, I did not miss one minute of teaching. Why? Because there was still a teacher and there were still students.

I am personally declaring war on the high class sizes in this district. I will not rest one minute until the Board of Trustees and the administration deal with this problem.

If the administration is unable to provide the necessary leadership to tackle this problem, we will.
