From Reuters
BELGRADE, Yugoslavia —
State prosecutors demanded the death penalty today for 86-year-old alleged Nazi war criminal Andrija Artukovic, who is on trial in the northern Yugoslav city of Zagreb.
Ivanka Pintar-Gajer, public prosecutor for Zagreb district court, demanded the penalty when she summed up the prosecution’s evidence against Artukovic, who is charged with mass murders committed during World War II. Lawyers for Artukovic, who was extradited from Seal Beach, Calif., in February, will sum up their case Thursday.
