Johnny Rodgers, Nebraska’s Heisman Trophy in 1972, has been declared indigent by a Superior Court judge in San Diego and will have a court-appointed attorney to represent him in a pending felony assault case. Rodgers is accused of threatening a cable TV technician with a pistol when the technician arrived at the Rodgers’ home to disconnect the service for non-payment last October.

Rodgers was the publisher of Tuned In, a local cable TV guide magazine which folded last October after five years of operation. He declared bankruptcy at the time, saying said he owed creditors $500,000.
