SDSU Women Split With USIU in Softball as Lara Drives in 12-Inning Run for 2-1 Win

Alice Lara went 4 for 6 and drove in the winning run in the 12th inning of the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday to give San Diego State a 2-1 nonconference softball victory over United States International University.

USIU won the first game, 4-0.

Lara, who had two doubles and a triple in the second game, doubled with two out in the 12th to drive in Stacy Sullivan. Vickie Bence (11-13) was the winning pitcher for the Aztecs. Robin Krall (11-14) pitched seven innings, was relieved by Terry Esquivel, and then re-entered in the ninth. Krall gave up both runs and 10 of the Aztecs’ 13 hits.
