Pepsico Inc. said Wednesday that D. Wayne Calloway has been named chairman of the board and chief executive, succeeding Donald M. Kendall, who has retired from those posts.

Kendall, 65, will serve as chairman of the executive committee. He was a co-founder of Pepsico in 1965 and was its chief executive from the start.

Calloway, 50, a 19-year veteran of the company, had been president and chief operating officer since January, 1985. Before that--beginning in 1983--he was executive vice president and chief financial officer.

In addition, Roger A. Enrico, 41, currently president and chief executive of Pepsi-Cola USA, was promoted to the same posts at Pepsi-Cola Co.

The board also elected Michael H. Jordan to replace Calloway as president. Jordan, 49, had been executive vice president-finance and administration. The post of chief operating officer remains unfilled. Robert G. Dettmer, 54, who had been president of Pepsi-Cola Bottling Group since 1979, replaces Jordan.
