Iranian Execution by Stoning Fails

TEHRAN —
An Iranian convicted of rape dodged a hail of rocks as he was being “stoned to death” under Islamic law Wednesday. He was allowed to live.
Witnessess said that Amin Rahmati, 24, pulled himself out of a three-foot-deep hole and evaded a circle of 100 rock-throwing policemen. He quickly collapsed but by escaping from the hole, he had exploited a legal loophole.
