U.S. and Soviet officials will discuss Central America in Moscow on May 20 in the latest of a series of talks on regional problems, the State Department said Thursday.

The U.S. officials will be led by Assistant Secretary of State Elliott Abrams.

The most recent talks in the series were held in Geneva in March and dealt with southern Africa.

U.S. policy in Central America is focused on opposing the Soviet-backed Sandinista government of Nicaragua.
