Bangladesh completed its vote count after last week’s general elections, reporting that the government Jatiya Party won 132 of 300 seats. The principal opposition Awami League and its small coalition partners were second with a combined 90 seats. Thirty seats are reserved for women and are to be chosen by the elected Parliament members. An election commission official said new voting will be held in 36 districts May 19. Charges of violence, intimidation and fraud were made by the opposition.
