The United States is winning its battle against terrorism and that success has improved the image of the CIA, the director of the agency said. “I think it’s going our way now,” William J. Casey said in an interview after accepting an honorary doctor of laws degree in Greenvale, N.Y., at the 29th annual commencement on the C. W. Post campus of Long Island University. His presence prompted unusual security at the ceremonies that drew 7,500 people, including 2,400 graduates. Dozens of Secret Service agents and plainclothes security officers mixed with the crowd, and police dogs checked the campus for explosives.
