NORTH RIVERSIDE, Ill. —
A 4-year-old boy was crushed to death by a tombstone that fell on him while he was visiting his grandmother’s grave on Mother’s Day, police said.
Brandon Schwartz was walking with his parents at the Jewish Waldheim Cemetery in suburban Chicago when a 500-pound marker fell from a 16-inch-high base, pinning him underneath. “No one knew how it fell or why it fell. It was a very freaky accident,” police Sgt. John O’Rourke said.
