Lewis Is Expected to Decide This Week Among UC Irvine, Kentucky, Syracuse

Tom Lewis, who has obtained a release from his basketball scholarship at USC, has narrowed his choice of schools where he will transfer to UC Irvine, Kentucky and Syracuse.

Lewis is expected to make his decision sometime this week. It’s believed that he is leaning toward UC Irvine because of the support he has in Southern California--from his adviser, Pat Barrett, weight coach Marv Marinovich and shooting coach Des Flood.

It was generally reported that Lewis visited Kentucky the past weekend. Instead, Kentucky Coach Eddie Sutton and Syracuse assistant Bernie Fine visited with Lewis here.

Lewis, USC’s leading scorer last season as a freshman, was heavily recruited by UC Irvine and Syracuse before he enrolled at USC.
