A tractor-trailer truck pulled over by police in Southeast San Diego early Monday turned out to be a stolen truck carrying 68 suspected illegal aliens, police said.

According to police reports, the truck was traveling in the 3700 block of Dalbergia Street shortly after 1 a.m. Monday when it ran a stop sign, attracting the attention of two officers in a nearby patrol car. A check of the truck’s license number revealed that it had been stolen. After police pulled the truck over, two men fled from the vehicle’s cab. One escaped but Albert Cobarubias, 23, was arrested, police said.

Inside the trailer were 68 people believed to be illegal aliens, including 10 children and an infant. They were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol for processing.
