The sixth game of the California Lottery, “Lucky Joker,” will begin Friday, for the first time giving holders of losing tickets chances to become winners. Lottery Director M. Mark Michalko said the new game will feature playing card symbols, as the third game did, but will also have a joker, which can be used as a wild card. The holder of a ticket with three 8’s or two 8’s and a joker will be eligibile to spin the Big Wheel for prizes ranging from $10,000 to several million dollars. Three nines or two nines and a joker will pay $2, three 10s or two 10s and a joker will pay $5, three jacks or two jacks and a joker will pay $50, three queens or two queens and a joker will pay $500, and three kings or two kings and a joker will pay $5,000. Three aces or two aces and a joker will pay the top instant prize of $100,000. Anyone with three losing tickets containing the joker will be eligible to win $2,500 or possibly the top lottery prize of at least $3 million.
