Leaders of Paraguay’s banned opposition front, addressing an independence day rally, called for a nonviolent campaign to end 32 years of rule by dictator Alfredo Stroessner. “This time, the end of Gen. Stroessner’s regime is very near,” Miguel Angel Martinez, president of the front, called the National Accord, said at a rally attended by 600 people. No incidents were reported.
