Donald E. Weimer, the 26-year-old autograph-seeker who claims that Reggie Jackson choked him and slammed him down onto a table and then to the floor during a scuffle in a Milwaukee tavern on May 3, filed a $150,000 civil suit Wednesday against Jackson.

The suit, filed in Milwaukee County Circuit Court, seeks $100,000 in punitive damages and $50,000 in compensatory damages for past and future medical care, past and future pain, lost earning capacity and permanent scarring.

Jackson’s Milwaukee attorney, Gerald Boyle, said he had warned Jackson and the player’s California attorneys that such a suit would be filed and that they indicated they would fight it.

Jackson’s comments before Wednesday night’s game against Boston at Anaheim Stadium indicated that he not only plans to fight the suit but that he also thinks it is ridiculous.

“Two days before I left town, they (Weimer and his attorney) said they’d settle for $75,000,” Jackson said. “With that, I’ll loan him my girlfriend, give him my Porsche, dinner reservations and a weekend in Monte Carlo.”
