ANCHOR’S AWAY?

Last week’s gossip from the Washington Post has it that Maria Shriver’s getting fired from the “CBS Morning News.” And the New York Post (the papers aren’t related) alleges that she’ll trade in her mike to play full-time wife to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“Not true,” said a CBS spokesman. “Maria says no one ever questions whether a man can be both a full time journalist and husband. So why question a woman? Maria’s worked hard as a journalist for nine years and that’s the profession she’ll remain in.”

But the show is losing money and will undergo a major face lift. Susan Winston, the former producer at “Good Morning America” and now the new exec director of news planning, has been in evaluations since she took her new job May 5.
