Lindborg Tennis Finals Scheduled for Today

The finals of the sixth Lindborg Senior Invitational Tennis Tournament will be held today at the Lindborg Racquet Club in Huntington Beach. Several nationally ranked local players have advanced to the finals of the weeklong tournament, which features more than 400 players and 43 age divisions.

Nationally-ranked singles players include Gail Glasgow of Newport Beach in the women’s 35 division; Bob Duesler and Jim Nelson, both of Newport Beach, in the men’s 45; Lenny Lindborg of Laguna Beach in the men’s 50, and King Lambert of Santa Ana and Bob Howe of Huntington Beach, both in the men’s 55.

Duesler and Nelson are ranked second in the nation in the men’s 45 doubles, and Lindborg and Nelson are rated No. 1 in the nation in the men’s 50 doubles. Ellen Bryant and Julie Hayward of Newport Beach will team up in the women’s 40 doubles final. Play begins at 9:30 a.m. and admission is free.
