A man was shot and killed by a school security officer as he allegedly attempted to burglarize Raymond Avenue School in Los Angeles. The shooting occurred when a Los Angeles Unified School District police officer, responding to a report of a burglary in progress at the school near Inglewood, accidentally shot the suspect as he attempted to flee in his car, Los Angeles Police Detective Paul Mize said. The suspect reportedly had driven onto the school grounds, Mize said. The suspect, who died at the scene, could not be identified immediately but appeared to be between 25 and 30 years old. The car he was driving was unregistered, Mize said, adding that electronic equipment belonging to the school district was found inside. The name of the security officer was not released pending investigation by an officer-involved shooting team, Mize said.
