Governor Announced his support for Proposition 43, a $100-million local parks bond issue, on the June 3 primary election ballot.

Will attend graduation ceremonies at the University of Colorado at Boulder on Thursday and Friday. His daughter, Leslie, is receiving a bachelor’s degree in communications.

Will attend the “Mule Days Celebration” in Bishop on Saturday.

Assembly Floor Action: Hazardous Waste: Approved and sent to the Senate on a 42-24 vote a bill (AB 2904) by Assemblyman Jack O’Connell (D-Carpinteria) to prohibit the incineration of hazardous wastes at sea until safety studies have been conducted by various state agencies.

Automobile Insurance: Approved and sent to the Senate on a 47-15 vote a bill (AB 2610) by Assemblyman Richard Katz (D-Sepulveda) to make drivers 55 years of age and older eligible for reduced rates if they satisfactorily complete a state-approved driver safety program.

Health Plans: Approved and sent to the Senate on a 42-28 vote a bill (AB 3186) by Assemblyman Louis J. Papan (D-Millbrae) to require private employers with more than five workers who offer multiple health plans to include at least one plan offering comprehensive preventive health care for children. The governor vetoed a similar bill last year.

Steroids: Approved and sent to the governor on a 47-18 vote a bill (AB 213) by Assemblyman Gary A. Condit (D-Ceres) to encourage schools to include steroid education in science, health, drug abuse or physical education classes in grades 7-12.
